OVERVIEW OF UEW COOPERATIVE CREDIT UNION LTD.

The UEW Co-operative Credit Union Ltd. started in November 1994 by the University of Education, Winneba staff. The Union started with an initial membership of 28 who were senior members, senior and junior staff. The founding members were made up of twenty (21) males and seven (7) females and the least contribution of twenty pesewas (GHS0.20) to savings. 
The initial payroll deductions were affected in January 1995 and within six(6) months the Union began granting loans to its members.
In August 1995, the Credit Union held its maiden Annual General Meeting
(AGM) with an increased membership of 137 and a total savings of
GHS422.00. By December 31, 2022, membership of the Union with minimum shares had grown to 14,454 if group members were counted seperately, and the total savings had increased to GHS34,203,614.54.
Membership of the Credit Union which was initially restricted to only the staff of the University was opened to the general public in January 2011.

The University of Education, Winneba Cooperative Credit Union exists to provide efficient financial assistance to all its members.

To become an excellent technology-oriented institution for member focused financial solutions.

The objectives of the Credit Union are to:
(i) promote thrift and the habit of savings among its members.
(ii) provide loans to its members for provident and productive purposes.
(iii) apply fair but competitive interest rates to savings and loans
(iv) provide quality financial services.

The UEW-CCU operates a financial cooperative as a life-long viable business entity that can compete favorably and designs products to meet its member needs.

Members of UEW Co-operative Credit Union have access to all the services offered by the Union. UEW- CCU also organize open fora regularly to sensitize and educate its members on policy issues and new products introduced. The Union educates its members on it virtues, principles and general operation.

The Union values it commitments to members. It takes ownership, correct mistakes and is answerable for it actions and actions of its officers.

The Union does not discriminate among members. Members join the Union voluntary without Cognizance of educational, financial or social status.
